Grain Bin Cattle Chute
Cornell, IL, farmer Ryan Thorson has made a Grain Bin Cattle Chute, using an old, 2,000-bushel grain bin. To do so, he cut entrance and exit holes in the sides to funnel the animals from pen to transport trailer, installed a stationary gate on one side of the exit hole, and sank a post in the center of the bin to which he anchored a swinging gate. As the cattle enter the bin, the gate herds them counterclockwise along the wall to the trailer.
