Wheelchair-Accessible Stone Pathway

In order to pack down and form a hard surface, a Wheelchair-Accessible Stone Pathway needs a proper mix of stone of varying sizes. Following is one such mix that has worked well (underline = stone size, italics = % passing through sieve): 3/4-inch, 100%; 1/2-inch, 70-98%; No. 4, 44-70%; No. 8, 30-54%; No. 30, 15-34%; and No. 200, 10-15%. Once mixed, the material should be evenly spread along the pathway and firmly packed. Periodic maintenance is also important, since holes and ruts not repaired will make the path unusable by wheelchairs.
