Truck Hood Opener
The split-chain-link opener has been welded to the piece of iron strap affixed to the hood underside.

Reaching inside the grillwork and pulling the lever to open a truck hood can be challenging for someone with an upper extremity impairment. To address that challenge, Byron Hemingson with Iowa's FaRM Program created a Truck Hood Opener. A piece of iron strap was form-fitted to the contour of the underside of the hood and held in place by the existing bolts that hold the hood latch. A split chain link was then welded to the end of the iron strap. To open the hood, one slides a finger or prosthetic hook into the link and pulls.
