Steel-Mesh Platform
Kasson, MN, farmer Brian Herbst has built a Steel-Mesh Platform that wraps around the front of his tractor and butts against the saddle tanks on both sides. When he drives the tractor up to the back of his chemical hauling truck, the platform gives convenient access to both the saddle tanks and the truck. With saddle tank shutoff valves at the front of the tractor, he needs only a short connecting hose from truck to tractor and can easily control the chemical flow. The steel-mesh platform frame is made with 1½-inch steel tubing welded in 1- foot-square sections with diagonal rods for stability. The front of the platform attaches to the front pivot point of the tractor axle, and the rear to the its frame behind the axle. This allows the platform to tilt with the front wheels to avoid any clearance problems.
