Hydraulic and Pneumatic Pruner Tools
Man using a hand-held pneumatic pruner to prune small trees in an orchard

Hydraulic and Pneumatic Pruner Tools offer a solution to the challenges of pruning. They are lightweight (usually less than 10 pounds) and powered by hydraulic or pneumatic systems. Among the specific tools available are: hand-held shears for pruning berry bushes, young fruit trees, and nursery stock; heavy-duty, pole-mounted loppers for pruning branches up to 2¼ inches in diameter; and hand-held or pole-mounted chain saws for trimming branches up to 7 inches in diameter. The polemounted tools come with a 9-footlong telescoping extension that allows the pruning of branches otherwise too high to reach from the ground. The hydraulic pruners can be powered directly from the hydraulic system on a tractor or other vehicle. The pneumatic tools receive air from a compressor powered by a tractor power-take-off or a gasoline engine.
